Savin 2522

The Savin 2522 is a step above any other machine I have worked with. Previous employers had always gone for the cheapest solution and let us cope with the shortcomings. When the Savin arrived, we breathed a sigh of relief.

It is a monochrome “document manager”, which is business speak for a printer that can copy and scan as well. You can buy an add-on that allows you to fax, but we didn’t have that one as we have fax-from desktop to a fax server.

One things to say about it is that it is big. Fortunately it was installed for us, I wouldn’t have wanted to try to lift it. There is a blue touch screen at the front which has a full QWERTY keyboard, which is a nice touch. I had never seen one of those before. All of the icons are large and clear, and it is easy to select the mode you want without accidentally hitting others.

The printer and copier are both really flexible. We print a lot of documents, and sometimes have to manipulate them a bit. The Savin 2522 lets us resize, twist, turn, flip and move images and pages exactly how we want, then print them pretty quick.

The printing itself is quick, it does about 20 pages per minute, and they are great pages too. We print a mix of text and images, and there are three modes to match. Text, Image and Text/image. The last one is for a page with a mixture of images or photos and writing. That’s the one we use the most.

There are 5 different paper trays, giving us 3100 sheets paper capacity. There is a built-in hard drive where we load up the larger print jobs and have them scheduled for early morning, so they are ready for when we come in. The copier is quick too, but we don’t use it much.

Scanning is another great feature of the 2522. We archive lots of older documents and we can load them all up into the feeder and let them process automatically. The scanner does about 25 pages a minute and can send them straight to my PC.

Toner is easy to change, you just have to pull down the flap and swap them out. Using the Savin 2522 is easy. Nobody has a problem with working with it. It’s quick enough for even the most impatient of us, and good enough for the most demanding.

I like the Savin 2522 and would recommend it for any office that produces a lot of documentation.
