How To fix Error 60 02 on HP Laserjet 4250 series

How To fix Error 60.02 on HP Laserjet 4250 series

It appears that the spring which holds the lifter motor upright was designed without enough tension on it.

If the spring is removed and the motor assembly is allowed to fall to the right when the paper tray is inserted the motor never engages the tray and an error 60.02 appears.

However if the motor assembly is held upright while the tray is inserted the error message never appears as the motor always engages.

How To fix HP Laserjet 49 errors

How To fix HP Laserjet 49 errors

The HP laserjet 49 errors are a firmware error, it might be caused by the firmware itself, or by the failure of a printer module.

How to isolate the cause:

Verify that the problem is not being caused by a specific job, this error can be caused by bad information being sent to the printer.
Power off and remove any installed EIO devices, (JetDirect Cards, Hard Drives), power on and test.

Cold Reset the printer:

Power off, remove any optional memory, power on and retest.
Power off and reseat any memory and firmware modules on the formatter board, power on and test.
Power off, reseat the formatter board, power on and test.

Check firmware version:
On newer machines with flashable firmware upgrade to the latest version. If you are running the latest version reload it, this might fix corrupted firmware. (Some printers have flashable firmware, others use a Firmware DIMM which must be replaced to upgrade.)

If you havent found the cause yet, it could be:
The firmware module if its a DIMM as opposed to being part of the formatter.
The memory if installed, some printers have to have at least one memory module installed to run, and it must have enough capacity to function, in some cases installing a module that does not meet the minimum requirements of the machine will cause a 49 error

HP LaserJet 1100

The HP LaserJet 1100 is supplied with a mere 2Mb of internal memory as standard. We upgraded ours to have 8Mb. The more memory a printer has the quicker it can handle print data. It also has a 35Mhz Motorola processor.

The printer has a standard resolution of 600 dpi which is a perfectly decent resolution for a printer, especially a laser. It’s capable of 8 pages per minute and our experience is that it actually achieves that too. The printer can be connected using a parallel port or as is more commonly the case with a workgroup, network using the Ethernet adapter.

The paper tray can handle a total of 125 sheets, so while this has network capabilities, it might feel more at home as a single user or SOHO printer. I imagine larger workgroups might end up being a bit much for it after a while, especially with only 8Mb of memory.

We are such SOHO users, so can vouch for its capability as that. There are only three of us on our network and have yet to give the 1100 pause. We aren’t great printers, but there are times, especially when a deadline looms that things get a bit frenetic and we’re all trying to get our individual parts of a project done at once.

Print quality is second to none, even with only 600 dpi to work with. It doesn’t matter so much to a laser than to an inkjet. In our experience, coverage is much more even, precise and quicker than with ink. Photos and images are much better with an inkjet, but seem a bit more expensive to print. Our requirements are predominantly textual, so it matters little to us.

The LaserJet 1100 prints text well, whatever the size. We are journalists so we use standard fonts, MLA formatting and only the odd image, as the editor adds those himself. Test in Times New Roman is pretty standard, you can’t really go wrong with it, but when we print something non-work related, it handles other fonts and points very well indeed.

The HP LaserJet 1100 is a good old workhorse printer. While marketed at a workgroup, I’m not sure its suited to one larger than ours. It works well, prints well and has given us no trouble since we owned it.

HP Color LaserJet CP3505

I have looked after the HP Color LaserJet CP3505 in our office for the last couple of years and it has been the least troublesome printer we have. Its a color laser from HP so we knew it would be good, but how good only time was going to tell.

It is quite big, measuring 16.25 x 20.07 x 22.44 inches and weighing almost 75 pounds, so it needs its own table or stand. When you need access to the paper drawer or to free jams you need more space at the front to fold down the flap. Its quite noisy, but then an office is anyway so it doesnt really disturb us too much.

We mainly print technical documentation for mobile engineers, who always seem to need something right away. Fortunately the printer is up to the task, reacting quickly, warming up quickly then printing quickly. At 22 pages per minute for either mono or color prints its plenty quick enough for our needs. Newer printers are quicker, but this one is so good we dont want to change it yet.

All Hewlett Packard products are well built and designed to last, the CP3505 is no exception. It has a duty cycle of 65,000 prints a month and is built to do it too.

We don’t print anything like that, around half I imagine, and it hasn’t let us down yet. It gets jammed occasionally, but the flap at the front exposes most of the paper path so they are easy to rectify.

The standard paper capacity is 850 sheets, which is enough for most uses. Just as well as you can’t expand it. You can add memory and a hard drive if you want, but we didn’t need to. It can be connected either by USB or network, we have it connected to our network and it works like a charm.

It also has a basic LCD screen and mini control panel on the top, but we mainly control it from the desktop using HP tools. We have a mixture of Windows and Mac computers here and it works with either of them without any fuss. I think the LaserJet CP3505 is just designed to work with the minimum of hassle. If it is, it succeeds very well.

HP LaserJet 3055

I have always used Hewlett Packard equipment. I used to work for them, then left but kept the brand loyalty. Its easy to do seeing as their printers and office equipment is so good. I bought the HP LaserJet 3055 when it first came out in 2006 and have been using it ever since.

Its a black and white multifunction or AIO as they seem to call them nowadays, the All In One. It prints, copies, faxes and scans all in one little box. Handy for small businesses like mine who do a little bit of printing, a little bit of copying and scanning, but not enough to need to buy a separate machine for each.

The 3055 was very easy to set up. It only has a single cartridge to install, the once youve unwrapped all the tape, its just a matter of installing the driver and letting it discover the device. It discovered it over my small network in seconds and installed everything in a couple of minutes. The tools it installs offer quite a few printing options, you can also lighten or darken the ink, just in case the prints or copies come out pale.

The print quality is very good for most business documents. Images and graphs are well drawn, with straight lines and good shading in the colored areas. Photographs were a little less detailed, but then you expect that with a laser printer. I dont print photos so it made no difference to me whatsoever.

Text was strong, dark and precise which works for me, even using headlines. They came out the strongest and work well for my documentation business. Copying is equally as good and can keep up with the 18 page per minute print time.
Scanning and faxing I dont really use much. The scanner is a bit slow, but works well and the fax transmits quickly. Other than that I havent used them.

Overall, the LaserJet 3055 is a great little device for people like me who do a little but demand a lot. The print and copy quality is good, its pretty quick and the end result looks good. Its easy to use, cheap to run and simple to maintain, Im not sure what else you would want from an office machine.

Oversized Printing Not Overpriced The HP LaserJet 9040 Monochrome Laser Printer

OVERVIEW:   The LaserJet 9040 is part of HP’s line of laser printers capable of providing medium to large-volume printing of ledger-size paper with good B&W image resolutions and print speeds up to 40 pages per minute. The 9040’s scalability to grow from a desktop to a floor unit: adding from an 8-bin mailbox attachment, to a finisher to create stapled 8½” x11” catalogs and booklets. With two 1-ream trays, Adobe PostScript 3, and 64MB memory makes the 2007 LaserJet 9040 a great addition for any small-press graphics or reproduction business.
PROS:
Before we discuss the specs, you need to know that the LaserJet 9040 comes in three different flavors: The basic 9040; the 9040n with built-in network, a 100-sheet multipurpose tray, and double the memory; and the 9040dn with network, memory, multipurpose tray, and 2-sided printing capabilities. The duplex unit, tray, and network card are available as optional accessories for the base unit and can be easily added using only a screwdriver.
This LaserJet is designed to be placed on a desk or table, but accessories like the 8-bin mailbox, high-capacity tray, stacker, stapler, and multi-function finisher transforms the 9040 into an impressive floor model to rival many business copiers.
Right from the start the 9040 comes with some serious paper capacity. Two 500-sheet cassette trays that can handle paper weights from 16# to 36# paper, sizes ranging from 5 ½” x 8 ½” up to  oversize 12” x 18½”  paper.
There is no long wait with the LaserJet 9040. In less than 8 seconds, this laser can start chugging letter-size prints at 40 pages per minute. Using the 600 x 1200dpi enhanced resolution, the 9040 keeps text sharp--even at 6-point font sizes--and does a decent job with monochrome graphics.
This laser printer comes with 64MB of memory right out the box. That means the LaserJet 9040 can easily handle workloads from multiple computer requests. An additional DIMM RAM slot is available to expand printer memory up to 512MB.
Understanding the printing needs of today’s businesses by providing support for the major software applications, HP has installed a full set for print emulators that should satisfy the most diverse office. Emulators include PostScript3, HP PCL5e, PCL6 and PDF-direct.
If you think this printer has it all, there are still more options you can add to the 9040. For laptop printing support, HP offers a wireless LAN card that supports g-band standard. A 2,000 high-capacity unit can be stacked under the LaserJet 9040 to provide over 3,000 ledger-size sheets of additional paper capacity. For special paper and media needs, a 100-sheet multi-purpose tray is available. For small press and reprographic departments, an optional 3,000-sheet stapler, a stacker, a 2,000-sheet 8-bin mailbox, and multi-function finisher are available. All of these can be easily attached to the LaserJet 9040 by the end user with a few simple tools.
CONS:
The 9040 shows its age with the connections it supports. None of the 9040 models have any built-in USB, but have an IEEE 1284 parallel port instead. Most buyers of this printer will not be using this LaserJet as a single-user printer. This means either opting for either of the “n” models or buying the JetDirect network card and adding it to the basic 9040.
This is one printer you don’t want to keep by your desk. Sitting idle the LaserJet 9040 produces 57db of sound, and 74dB when printing.  To give you an idea of what that means: 60 decibels is the level of typical conversations and 80 decibels is the loudness of a telephone dial-tone when listening through a normal receiver. If you have a quiet workplace, you don’t want to place this near any office cubicles, but its noise will hardly be noticeable in a copy room or break room.
INK / TONER NEEDS:
The LaserJet 9040 toner and drum are integrated in a single cartridge, making it easy to maintain.  To keep images and print as sharp as possible, HP developed a microfine toner formula for this model’s print resolution.
The toner has a 30,000-sheet yield--which is based on applying only 5% ink coverage on a standard 8½” x 11” page. Prints with graphics will drop that toner capacity down 50% and more. The high yield cartridges are great for a department or a classroom with heavy printing demands and little time for maintenance.
SOFTWARE:
The CD contains drivers for Windows and Mac OS 8.6 to 10.4 (using AppleTalk). The rest of the software on the CD is for the Windows platform, including their print management.  Printer drivers for Linux, UNIX, and SAP are available on HP’s web site.  Support is also available for all 32- and 64-bit Windows operating systems, including Windows 7. Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) has the LaserJet 9040 driver built-in, so there’s no additional HP software available.
According to the manual, if a new accessory is added to your LaserJet and you have an Apple computer, the printer driver must be completely deleted and reinstalled for the Apple to utilize the new feature. The HP LaserJet Utility software for managing the 9040 was not available for the OS X, but if you get the network option, printer management can be done through any web browser via the printer’s IP.

HP LaserJet 4000

The HP LaserJet 4000 is a decently capable small monochrome printer that can cope with a small to mid-sized workgroup. In typical Hewlett Packard style, its small, functional and solidly built. Not much to look at but lets its results speak for themselves.

Productivity is the name of the game and the 4000 doesnt disappoint. At 17 pages per minute, its a steady performer, but the real delight is in the quality of the documents it produces. Text is rich and strong, black is black and lacks any jaggies, blemishes or smudging. The stark contrast between black and white is plain for all to see, which is the mark of a good printer.

It also handles graphs, images and photographs remarkably well. Laser printers are predominantly text printers that can handle the occasional image. The LaserJet 4000 doesnt blink when presented with a page of photographs or a PowerPoint with graphs. The detail is good considering its a laser, the grayscale works well translating color photos and images, with even tones and smooth transitions throughout.

The printer has 4Mb memory, with the option to upgrade it to 100Mb, and the RISC processor has enough power to cope with just about anything you can throw at it. That processor is the reason it didnt even blink when we gave it our test document. They are small, cool and powerful pieces of hardware and work well in this device.

Measuring just 39cm x 50 x 35cm and weighing in at 18Kg this isnt a big printer. It modest size and network capability offers a lot of freedom when it comes to placing and using it. The 250 sheet paper drawer and 100 sheet multipurpose tray will keep it going for a while, as will the cartridges which will last 10,000 pages for a normal one and 15,000 for a high yield version. Replacements are easy to install with the lifting of a flap and moving a couple of levers, they are designed to be easily maintained and succeed.

The LaserJet 4000 is a good little printer that will sit quietly until you need it then spring into action. It isnt big, flashy or ostentatious but it is reliable, sturdy and produces prints of an excellent quality at a decent speed. This is one printer any business would be glad to own.

HP LaserJet 4240N

We have several HP LaserJet 4240Ns in our office, and have done for years. They are very quick monochrome printers, at around 40 pages a minute and they are fast to react as the print job starts almost instantaneously.

Despite its modest appearance, the LaserJet 4240N is an enterprise level printer that can be apparently expanded to cope with a lot more than we ask of it. We have the standard 500 sheet paper tray and the duplexer, which was optional. The paper handling can be expanded to 3100 sheets, the memory can also be increased, there are paper handlers, finishers, staplers and stackers.

The Hewlett Packard quick start technology reduces waiting time for warm up. This is where the almost instantaneous start comes from. There is something special in the toner that doesnt need warming up like other ones so when you sent it a print command, it picks it up and gets started almost immediately. This is great if you need something in a hurry. While it doesnt make much difference in real terms, psychologically a fast response in a busy office does make a lot of difference.

As well as being quick, each of those 40 pages a minute are printed perfectly. The text is spot-on. Smooth, definite, sharp and clear are some of the words I would use to describe them. Photos and images are much the same quality. Theres quite a lot of detail printed onto the page with either of them. Photographs, although black and white are still good to look at and look exactly like they should.

The 4240N is fast also because it has a fast 460Mhz processor, and with the memory expandable to 512Mb, that makes it pretty powerful for a printer. That and the ability to network it is what makes it suitable for an enterprise. While our office hardly constitutes an enterprise, it does make a real difference being able to print and control the printer over the network.

The HP LaserJet 4240N is a great printer, we like them so much we have several of them. Theyre quick, good and can be left alone to do their thing once you load it with paper. They are ideal for impatient people like me who want things now, while not compromising on quality.

HP Color LaserJet CP4005n

This stylish color laser jet printer has an amazing speed through which it is able to print 30 black and white papers per minute and 25 color papers per minute. This fast speed of this printer makes it the best choice for all work teams. We are a small work team however at times we are burdened with large workloads so we have to have large number of print outs in a little time, at such a time I deeply feel blessed to have this printer at our office.

The HP Color LaserJet CP4005n has a high speed USB 2.0 port as well as input capacity to as large an extent as 600 sheets. It carries 600 x 600 dpi resolutions which cannot be better for us. Its color quality is superb and that is why it can be relied on for all occasions and uses.

Its RAM memory size is just suitable for all types of use and extends to about 128 MB. This work group color printer is compatible with media type which includes envelopes, cards, high gloss papers, plain papers, labels and a lot more. It does not include a scanner otherwise it would have been complete in all aspects for office use. It has its own print server and print interface which includes USB and Ethernet 10/100 Base TX.

One of the main things is that it is compatible with all sorts of systems therefore it can easily work throughout the work team systems for instance it can function with systems such as Microsoft windows 2000, XP, Professional X64, home edition, XP professional and others.

The printer is available with cartridges already installed in it before it reaches the customer, therefore there are no hassles and no need of a printer specialist around. The system can be installed easily on all the PCs and networking is also a matter of just a few clicks. This makes it a superb choice because there is not much time in the office to keep installing and setting up the system so the ease it provides is really commendable.

We have been using it for quite some time now; at times the work load is high while it is also low at other times. However during these 6 to 7 months of its use, we have never experienced any technical problems with this printer. It works well and hardly ever is jammed.

HP LaserJet 8150 Monochrome Laser Printer

OVERVIEW: One of HP’s first “Internet-enabled” printers of 2001, the LaserJet 8150 series gave users not only network printer access, but by providing printer management via a web browser, HP made it easier for administrators to manage multiple network printers from one location. The 8150 is able to provide medium to large-volume printing of ledger-size paper with high resolution images at print speeds up to 32 pages per minute.  Two 1-ream trays, Adobe PostScript 3, and 32MB memory makes the HP LaserJet 8150 a reliable workhorse for classrooms and offices alike.

PROS:
Before we discuss the specs, you need to know that the LaserJet 8150 comes in four different flavors: The basic 8150; the 8150n with plug-in Ethernet; the 8150dn with network and 2-sided printing capabilities; the networked 8150HN with a 2000-sheet high capacity tray and 3000-sheet stacker; and the 8150MFP model, a multi-function printer/copier with all the features of it’s siblings plus digital copying, hard drive storage, automatic stapling and collation. The duplex unit, high capacity trays, and network cards are available as optional accessories for the base unit and can be easily attached without tools.
Right from the start the 8150 comes with some serious paper capacity. The LaserJet 8150 has two 500-sheet cassette trays that can handle sizes ranging from 4” x 7½”, up to ledger-sized 11” x 17” paper.  A flip-tray on the side can hold up to 100 additional sheets of various cardstock, envelopes, labels and transparencies.
The 2-line LCD display on the control panel makes setting configurations and interpreting error messages simple and straightforward. On the network models, printer management can also be done with the provided web-access management utility.
Having a longer wake-up time than HP’s LaserJet P series, the 8150 will start chugging letter-size prints at 32 pages per minute. Using HP’s 600 x 1200 dpi enhanced resolution mode, the 8150 keeps text sharp--even at 6-point font sizes--and does a decent job with monochrome graphics.
This laser printer comes with 32MB of memory right out of the box, so the 8150 can easily handle workloads from multiple computer requests. Two additional DIMM RAM slots are available to expand printer memory up to 160MB, requiring only a screwdriver to access the memory bay.
Understanding the need to provide support for popular business software, HP has installed a full set for print emulators that should satisfy the most diverse office. Emulators include PostScript3, HP’s standard PCL5e, PCL6 and the PJL and PML languages. For printing of PostScript or large files, a good rule of thumb is to have at least 64MB; adding more memory if the printer is to be used heavily in an office or classroom where there’s constant printing across 30 or more networked computers. For even larger job requests, an optional 3.2GB hard disk drive can be installed.

CONS:

The 8150 shows its age with the connections it supports. None of the 8150 models support USB, having an IEEE 1284 parallel port instead. However, most buyers of this printer will not be using this LaserJet as a single-user printer. This means either opting for buying one of the “n” models or ordering the JetDirect Ethernet (and/or LocalTalk) card and adding it to the basic 8150.

INK / TONER NEEDS:

The LaserJet 8150 toner and drum are integrated in a single cartridge, making it easy to maintain. The toner has a 20,000-sheet yield--which is based on applying only 5% ink coverage on a standard 8½” x 11” page. Prints with graphics will drop that toner capacity down 50% and more. The high yield cartridges are great for a department or a classroom with heavy printing demands and little time for maintenance.

Oversized Printing That’s Not Over The Top Introducing the HP laserJet 9050

OVERVIEW:   The LaserJet 9050 is part of HP’s line of laser printers capable of providing medium to large-volume printing of ledger-size paper with good B&W image resolutions and print speeds up to 50 pages per minute. The 9050’s scalability to grow from a desktop to a floor unit: with an 8-bin mailbox attachment, to a finisher to create stapled 8½” x11” catalogs and booklets. With two 1-ream trays, Adobe PostScript 3, and 128MB memory makes the 2007 LaserJet 9050 a great addition for any small-press graphics or reproduction business.
PROS:
Before we discuss the specs, you need to know that the LaserJet 9050 comes in three different flavors: The basic 9050, the 9050n with built-in network, and the 9050dn with network and 2-sided printing capabilities. The duplex unit and network cards are available as optional accessories for the base unit and can be easily added using only a screwdriver.
This LaserJet is designed to be placed on a desk or table, but accessories like the 8-bin mailbox, high-capacity tray, stacker, stapler, and multi-function finisher transforms the 9050 into an impressive floor model to rival many business copiers.
Right from the start the 9050 comes with some serious paper capacity. Two 500-sheet cassette trays that can handle paper weights from 16# to 36# paper, sizes ranging from 5 ½” x 8 ½” up to  oversize 12” x 18½”  paper. The side multi-purpose tray can support up to 100 sheets of paper, cardstock, envelopes, and transparencies.
There is no long wait with the LaserJet 9050. In less than 8 seconds, this laser can start chugging letter-size prints at 50 pages per minute. Using the 600 x 1200dpi enhanced resolution, the 9050 keeps text sharp--even at 6-point font sizes--and does a decent job with monochrome graphics.
This laser printer comes with 128MB of memory right out the box. That means the LaserJet 9050 can easily handle workloads from multiple computer requests and those large print jobs.
If you think this printer has it all, there are still more options you can add to the 9050. For laptop printing support, HP offers a wireless LAN card that supports g-band standard. A 2,000 high-capacity unit can be stacked under the LaserJet 9050 to provide over 3,000 ledger-size sheets of additional paper capacity. For small press and reprographic departments, an optional 3,000-sheet stapler, a stacker, a 2,000-sheet 8-bin mailbox, and multi-function finisher are available. All of these can be easily attached to the LaserJet 9050 by the end user with a few simple tools.
CONS:
The 9050 shows its age with the connections it supports. None of the 9050 models have any built-in USB, but have an IEEE 1284 parallel port instead. Most buyers of this printer will not be using this LaserJet as a single-user printer. This means either opting for either of the “n” models or buying the JetDirect network card and adding it to the basic 9050.
This is one printer you don’t want to keep by your desk. Sitting idle the LaserJet 9050 produces 57db of sound, and 74dB when printing.
The LaserJet 9050 toner and drum are integrated in a single cartridge, making it easy to maintain.
Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) has the LaserJet 9050 driver built-in, so there’s no additional HP software available.
According to the manual, if a new accessory is added to your LaserJet and you have an Apple computer, the printer driver must be completely deleted and reinstalled for the Apple to utilize the new feature. The HP LaserJet Utility software for managing the 9050 was not available for the OS X, but if you get the network option, printer management can be done through any web browser via the printer’s IP.
