How to Clear Clogged HP Ink Cartridges

When a printer isn’t used often, sometimes the ink dries up inside the cartridge and this results in it not working properly. Using the print cleaning option under utility can often times work in cleaning the cartridge, but at times, it doesn’t always do the trick. After trying five or six times to clean it that way, you’ll need to do it manually. Fortunately, this is an inexpensive process that requires rubbing alcohol and water.

The first step is to take hot water and submerge the cartridge. Allow it to sit for a little while so that the water can go in and break up any of the ink. Once this has finished, allow it to dry over night and then put the cartridge into the printer. Use the self clean feature on the printer again. If this works, the cartridge has been unclogged and you can go about your business.

Unfortunately, if it doesn’t work, you’ll have to try rubbing alcohol. Submerge the cartridge in rubbing alcohol and allow it to sit overnight. Remove it and dry it down caully. The thing to note about rubbing alcohol is that it evaporates very quickly, so once removed from the container, it’ll be dry within ten minutes. Pat it down with paper towel to get any remaining drops of alcohol.

Place it into the printer and try the self cleaning again. Most of the time, the hot water and then the alcohol will be enough to break up the ink. Once the ink has been broken up, the self cleaning feature will be able to handle the remaining cleaning. However, if this doesn’t work, chances are, the cartridge is completely clogged and you’ll have to purchase a new one.

The best way to ensure that the ink cartridges don’t get clogged in the future is to print something–both in black and color–at least once a week. This way, the ink is being used and doesn’t just sit in the cartridge building up. And, it doesn’t hurt to do the self cleaning utility once every couple of weeks to ensure that there are no blockages. If there are, repeat the above steps.

How to Refill an HP Inkjet Cartridge

The most expensive part of buying an inkjetcartridge is the actual cartridge. The ink is much cheaper and theore, buying illing your old cartridges rather than buying new ones, you are able to save money that can be used on other things. The only problem with illing cartridges is that there are so many different types that HP creates, so the plan of attack might vary. For the most part, though, it is the same across the board.

Refilling the Cartridge
Before you begin to ill the cartridge, make sure that the space you are working on is not a cherished space. Ink stains and theore, if you spill, it will ruin furniture. To prevent against this, lay out old rags. The rag will soak up the ink before it gets to the furniture.

Once you have your ink replacement and youve got the individual cartridges, you can get to work. The first step is to locate the hole in which the ink will be placed in. This is usually on the top or the bottom of the cartridge. Look for a plastic film because this is typically where the hole is.Refill an HP Inkjet Cartridge
Using a small, non-medical syringe, insert the ink into the cartridge. For black ink, it is best to use around 20 milliliters. For color, use about 10 milliliters for each chamber. Before going from color to color, be sure to clean out the syringe as much as possible to ensure that the colors dont mix and create an ugly color that isnt desired for printing.
Squeeze the sides of the cartridge and try to get a few drops of the ink to drop from the print head. This way, you know that the ink has reached the bottom of the cartridge. Then, allow it to stand with the print head down for a few moments. What you are doing here is getting rid of any excess ink and allowing the pressure to equalize within the cartridge. Once youve done this, put the cartridge back into the printer and do a test print. If the print looks good, youve done a successful ill.

How To fix Error 60.02 on HP Laserjet 4250 series

It appears that the spring which holds the lifter motor upright was designed without enough tension on it.

However if the motor assembly is held upright while the tray is inserted the error message never appears as the motor always engages.

HP LaserJet 1100

The HP LaserJet 1100 is supplied with a mere 2Mb of internal memory as standard. We upgraded ours to have 8Mb. The more memory a printer has the quicker it can handle print data. It also has a 35Mhz Motorola processor.

The printer has a standard resolution of 600 dpi which is a perfectly decent resolution for a printer, especially a laser. It’s capable of 8 pages per minute and our experience is that it actually achieves that too. The printer can be connected using a parallel port or as is more commonly the case with a workgroup, network using the Ethernet adapter.

The paper tray can handle a total of 125 sheets, so while this has network capabilities, it might feel more at home as a single user or SOHO printer. I imagine larger workgroups might end up being a bit much for it after a while, especially with only 8Mb of memory.

We are such SOHO users, so can vouch for its capability as that. There are only three of us on our network and have yet to give the 1100 pause. We aren’t great printers, but there are times, especially when a deadline looms that things get a bit frenetic and we’re all trying to get our individual parts of a project done at once.

Print quality is second to none, even with only 600 dpi to work with. It doesn’t matter so much to a laser than to an inkjet. In our experience, coverage is much more even, precise and quicker than with ink. Photos and images are much better with an inkjet, but seem a bit more expensive to print. Our requirements are predominantly textual, so it matters little to us.

The LaserJet 1100 prints text well, whatever the size. We are journalists so we use standard fonts, MLA formatting and only the odd image, as the editor adds those himself. Test in Times New Roman is pretty standard, you can’t really go wrong with it, but when we print something non-work related, it handles other fonts and points very well indeed.

The HP LaserJet 1100 is a good old workhorse printer. While marketed at a workgroup, I’m not sure its suited to one larger than ours. It works well, prints well and has given us no trouble since we owned it.

HP Color LaserJet CP3505

I have looked after the HP Color LaserJet CP3505 in our office for the last couple of years and it has been the least troublesome printer we have. Its a color laser from HP so we knew it would be good, but how good only time was going to tell.

It is quite big, measuring 16.25 x 20.07 x 22.44 inches and weighing almost 75 pounds, so it needs its own table or stand. When you need access to the paper drawer or to free jams you need more space at the front to fold down the flap. Its quite noisy, but then an office is anyway so it doesnt really disturb us too much.

We mainly print technical documentation for mobile engineers, who always seem to need something right away. Fortunately the printer is up to the task, reacting quickly, warming up quickly then printing quickly. At 22 pages per minute for either mono or color prints its plenty quick enough for our needs. Newer printers are quicker, but this one is so good we dont want to change it yet.

All Hewlett Packard products are well built and designed to last, the CP3505 is no exception. It has a duty cycle of 65,000 prints a month and is built to do it too.

We don’t print anything like that, around half I imagine, and it hasn’t let us down yet. It gets jammed occasionally, but the flap at the front exposes most of the paper path so they are easy to rectify.

The standard paper capacity is 850 sheets, which is enough for most uses. Just as well as you can’t expand it. You can add memory and a hard drive if you want, but we didn’t need to. It can be connected either by USB or network, we have it connected to our network and it works like a charm.

It also has a basic LCD screen and mini control panel on the top, but we mainly control it from the desktop using HP tools. We have a mixture of Windows and Mac computers here and it works with either of them without any fuss. I think the LaserJet CP3505 is just designed to work with the minimum of hassle. If it is, it succeeds very well.

I have always used Hewlett Packard equipment. I used to work for them, then left but kept the brand loyalty. Its easy to do seeing as their printers and office equipment is so good. I bought the HP LaserJet 3055 when it first came out in 2006 and have been using it ever since.

Its a black and white multifunction or AIO as they seem to call them nowadays, the All In One. It prints, copies, faxes and scans all in one little box. Handy for small businesses like mine who do a little bit of printing, a little bit of copying and scanning, but not enough to need to buy a separate machine for each.

The 3055 was very easy to set up. It only has a single cartridge to install, the once youve unwrapped all the tape, its just a matter of installing the driver and letting it discover the device. It discovered it over my small network in seconds and installed everything in a couple of minutes. The tools it installs offer quite a few printing options, you can also lighten or darken the ink, just in case the prints or copies come out pale.

The print quality is very good for most business documents. Images and graphs are well drawn, with straight lines and good shading in the colored areas. Photographs were a little less detailed, but then you expect that with a laser printer. I dont print photos so it made no difference to me whatsoever.

Text was strong, dark and precise which works for me, even using headlines. They came out the strongest and work well for my documentation business. Copying is equally as good and can keep up with the 18 page per minute print time.
Scanning and faxing I dont really use much. The scanner is a bit slow, but works well and the fax transmits quickly. Other than that I havent used them.

Overall, the LaserJet 3055 is a great little device for people like me who do a little but demand a lot. The print and copy quality is good, its pretty quick and the end result looks good. Its easy to use, cheap to run and simple to maintain, Im not sure what else you would want from an office machine.
